Retro Fighters New Bluetooth Brawler64 Controller Is Switch-Compatible | Nintendo Life

We've covered Retro Fighters' rather-lovely controllers (and peripherals) a few times here at Nintendo Life, but the company's newest Kickstarter has just launched, and it looks like a fantastic upgrade to the original Brawler64 controller.

The Brawler64 N64 Bluetooth Wireless is a brand new controller that, just like its predecessors, is inspired by the N64. But this upgrade, like its wired counterpart, is compatible with PC and Switch. Coming in three gorgeous colours — Gray, Transparent Blue, and Arctic White — Retro Fighters plan to ship the controllers early next year. The project is fully-funded already, but you can still contribute to the Kickstarter to get your hands on this retro-inspired controller first.

The controller's newest features include all the little tools you'd expect to find on a Switch controller — "+" and "-" buttons, a screenshot button — but something that's brand new is a "Swap" button. This nifty little feature will allow you to change between the traditional Switch Pro controller layout and the Nintendo Switch Online button layout whenever you want.

The controller also has dual vibration feedback, so this is the closest we'll get to having a Rumble Pack. It's just looking like a really sleek, complete package, and we're excited to see these get released.

As we mentioned above, the controllers are fully-funded, but there are a few Stretch Goals available You'll have the perfect Splatoon 3 companion if the project hits $100k, as Retro Fighters will be adding motion controls. If it hits $200k, then there will be a limited edition Gold controller!

The Kickstarter ends on 3rd October, so you still have a few more weeks to contribute! Make sure you check out the Kickstarter page for more details, and you can also see what other controllers are available on the Retro Fighters website.

Let us know what you think of the Brawler64 N64 Bluetooth Wireless controller in the comments!

RPG lover first and Nintendo fan second, Alana is often found overthinking battle strategies, characters, and stories. Fortunately, she’s also easily pleased by anything Yoshi-related, creepy-but-cute Pokémon, and SEGA air pirates.

I'm not sold on this for Switch (great for the n64 though). It seems like a needless middle ground between the N64 styled Switch controllers and something like the 8bitdo pro controllers.

It looks like a very nice controller for N64 games, but the lack of the second analogue stick holds it back greatly.

If it can be used as a PC controller though, that's also great for emulation stuff.

Are these any good for playing N64 games on Switch?

Why are they still using that awful thumb stick, why not opt for a more modern stick? Are they that concern about stick drift?

@electrolite77 the name of this special edition is "NSO" so they're trying to make those especially for N64 on switch. We'll know if they're good when they ship though

I watched MadLittlePixel cover this, and I am intrigued. Since I lack the audacity to even be able to go for, let alone afford the Nintendo-Made Variety, AKA, the MORE-Money-cost varariety, due to scalpers, I'm going for this. It'll all be worth it, come February. I won't have to use my Tribute 64 2.4GHZ Wireless controller on it.

They don't ship the controller to Brazil. Bummer :/

@Serpenterror I'd rather NOT have to be worried about stick drift. That alone can ruin any gameplay enjoyment.

@DanijoEX My only issue with that stick is that it could be torn easily otherwise I would had been more favorable if they one similar to the GameCube or Wii U one.

It is a great Controller for the N64, especially when your Sticks are beaten down.

Played some Jump and Runs with it and in many Places i was thinking: "I would have fallen down a million Times on that Spot with the original Stick..." .

@electrolite77 who knows, they haven't come out yet. That's exactly what this is for. The original for N64 is fantastic.

I didn’t read it properly 😆

If the original is good hopefully this will be too
